FAQ

Q. What is the minimum age permitted to rent a car?

A. The renter of the Costa Rica rental car or at least one of the drivers covered under the “additional driver” rate must be 21 years of age or older. Renters who are under 21 may rent from us, but must agree to the “Double Deductible” program and pay an additional $18.00 per day in supplementary insurance.

Q.How can I pick up my rented car?

A.You can either pick your rented vehicle from our main office location, about 20 minutes from the airport, or have the car delivered to you at the airport or most San Jose Downtown hotels.

Q.What is the amount of the deposit required on my credit card?

A.The amount held on your credit card is the sum of the deductible $ 950 / $1500 (depending on the vehicle) of the car plus the total amount of your reservation. This deposit will be “pre-authorized”-“Freeze” on your credit card and released upon the end of the rental period. Please note that depending on your credit card, it may take a few days for all of your funds to become available.

Q.Is there an additional charge if I would like to pick up the car at one location and return the car at a different location?

A.Outside of our normal “free drop off and pick up” locations San Jose Airport and San Jose Metro Area-Downtown, the rental car may be delivered to any location within Costa Rica for a reasonable fee. You may drop off the car at any authorized location, but additional charges may apply depending upon the location.

Q.Can I Get The Rental Car Delivered to Me?

A.Yes, in fact most of our clients have their car delivered (either to the airport or to their hotel). We will prepare all the paperwork in advance. This way you can take possession of your car at the airport without having to wait! No lines, no shuttle buses, and no hassle.
When we deliver your vehicle to the airport, we wait for you at the exit of the “Arrivals” terminal with a sign displaying your name (airline arrival info is required).

You may then return the car to either the San Jose airport or the San Jose downtown hotel the car was delivered to at no additional charge.

Q.Do you accept my credit card auto rental insurance program?

A.Yes we do!
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) can be declined, but you must take the basic insurance TP and SLI.

Q.May I Leave the Country with the Rental Car?

A.No. Costa Rica rental car vehicles may not be taken outside of the boundaries of Costa Rica.

Q.What should I know to have a great and safe vacation?

A.Keep your passport safe! Always carry a copy of your passport with you and keep the original in the safety deposit box of your hotel along with money, jewelry and any valuable objects you may have. Keep a close eye on all of your possessions. If you use public transportation never take your eye off of any bags or other items you may be carrying and never place items into the storage bins.
Only use licensed taxis. These can be identified by their red paint and a yellow triangle bearing numbers painted on the side. Licensed airport taxis are painted orange. Never get into an unlicensed taxi! Always ask the staff at your hotel to call a taxi from a reliable company.

If you are lost and in need of directions or time to consult your map, look for public and safe place to do it, or locate a police officer to help you. Avoid “looking like a tourist” as much as possible. While driving or parking your car, lock the doors and keep the windows closed. Do not leave your personal belongings inside the vehicle.

If you get a flat tire, are notified by someone else of damage to your car while you are still driving, if you are hit from behind or if you feel you are being followed while driving - do not stop. Immediately look for the closest gas station or police officer or dial 911 if possible.
Avoid stopping when a stranger asks you for a ride.
